100 Figures Project! Now totally scanned and online 100 figures project, Illustration | (0)
At the start of October 2009, I took on the "100 Figures Project", outlined here.Click here to see all 100 over on my website in glorious lightbox vision, or you can download the pdf if you prefer! Basically, between midday Saturday and Tuesday morning, I completed 100 drawings/paintings at around A3 size each. All were traditional media, varying in time spent on each. A few weeks back now, I took on the "100 figures project". I will post in more detail about it when I've finished scanning (have scanned 25/100) this week, but in short: over 4 days I did 100 drawings/paintings on A3 cartridge, watercolour, bleedproof, etc. paper. It was total insanity, but such a good exercise!!Because it's so far in the past now and I haven't had a chance to catch up with my blog posts yet, I thought I'd share a few from the first batch of scans. Freo Festival Illustration, commissioned, poster | (2)
Freo Festival starts next week (7th - 15th Nov) in Fremantle Western Australia. I was commissioned to do an illustration for the poster and Festival program cover.The brief called for the illustration to be a bit looser, energetic, somewhat hand-drawn and colourful, and to represent the theme "So Freo". Hausu for Electric Ant zine + Zombies commission Illustration, commissioned, electric ant, film, same hat, zombies | (0)
Illustration for Issue 2 of Electric Ant Zine "These Bloody Moments" illustration feature. Will post more about this later!I chose to do a scene Hausu, which is an amazing Japanese movie from the 70's. I recently read that director Nobuhiko Obayashi directed commercials, which makes a lot of sense when watching Hausu. It's a surreal, psychadelic film which I always describe to people as "a Japanese Brady Bunch on Acid goes to a haunted house". It's pure eye candy (imo) even by todays standards - super vibrant colours, painted backdrops, and demented blue screen effects.. I can't do the movie ...

Department of Sport and Rec DSR, Illustration, sport | (0)
So I've been working for the Western Australian Department of Sport and Recreation as a graphic designer for the past 2 months or so, initially filling in for my pal Maddy while she was gallivanting around Europe for 4 weeks. I'm now on contract part time until Xmas, hurrah bank account!Anyway, I have also been doing a heap of illustrations for the department and thought I'd put a few up here. Something a bit different for me!Working on a pretty varied body of work at the moment which is cool :)

Started this late last year.. doing a little bit of work every now and then on it. All digital, painted in photoshop. I don't really like the title, doesn't fit what it meant for me.. I'm not a womenhater or a misogynist! Just a personal work getting some angsty stuff off my chest, people that make me want to vomit / punch walls.. lame, lame yes but here it is :)

Based on a guy I met years ago, this was one part a study on communicating a narrative (Honours research for uni), trying out some of the theory I was researching, and also entered it in the Gnomon 'street vendor' comp.
