  Hausu for Electric Ant zine + Zombies commission Illustration, commissioned, electric ant, film, same hat, zombies | (0)

  Illustration for Issue 2 of Electric Ant Zine "These Bloody Moments" illustration feature. Will post more about this later!I chose to do a scene Hausu, which is an amazing Japanese movie from the 70's. I recently read that director Nobuhiko Obayashi directed commercials, which makes a lot of sense when watching Hausu. It's a surreal, psychadelic film which I always describe to people as "a Japanese Brady Bunch on Acid goes to a haunted house". It's pure eye candy (imo) even by todays standards - super vibrant colours, painted backdrops, and demented blue screen effects.. I can't do the movie ...

  Over on the Coilhouse blog (excellent blog, one of my favourites) I read about 2 really good zombie projects I'd surprisingly never heard of.Firstly, "Worst Case Scenario". A now defunct project spawned by fans/volunteers, to make an epic Nazi zombie film. I partly-lied when I said I haven't heard of it, because the promo image certainly looks familiar.. but have never seen the trailer or heard the story behind it.   What started as concept art for a graphic novel pitch, evolved into a full illustration because I really liked the character despite having ditched the story. Again here I tried to really push the narrative with the composition and included elements etc/environment to go alongside my Honours research.I've painted this up at almost A2 size, so may revisit it to clean it up a little for a print :).
